SUMMARY:
Estimators review tender documents and assess costs for the fabrication, transportation and erection of steel structures. The estimators work closely with our clients and subcontractors in order to prepare cost effective proposals. Upon award, the estimators hand off the projects to Project Managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares quantity take off based on architectural and engineering drawings.
Reviews drawings, addendums, specifications and complete tender packages to ensure all requirements are adhered to during bid process.
Develops costs estimates for material, shop labor, field labour, equipment and subcontracted items.
Prepare preliminary schedules.
Assist Project Manager at time of project start-up.
Assist with pre-qualification packages.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Diploma in estimating or drafting or engineering technology (or related area); or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Technical knowledge of structural steel and fabrication would be asset.
Experience with bridge projects would be a valuable asset.
Experience with CAD an asset.
Experience with Fabtrol an asset.
Ability to read schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals.
Ability to foster a cooperative business setting and communicate effectively
Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines
Ability to work in an English environment
