Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer (P.Eng.) to support the planning, design, review, and execution of transmission line projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptual, preliminary, and detailed transmission line design, including line routing, structure spotting, sag-tension analysis, conductor selection, and development of Issued for Construction (IFC) packages. This role will also provide engineering support during construction and commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with Alberta utility regulations and industry standards. This role Is fully on-site, 5 days a week in Calgary, Alberta
Skills and Requirements Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation registered with APEGA
5+ years (10+ year preferred) of transmission line engineering and design experience
Experience working for a transmission utility, engineering consulting firm, or utility owner organization
Experience transmission line design
Strong proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
Experience performing sag-tension analysis and conductor/shield wire selection
Knowledge of transmission line loading, clearances, structural loading criteria, and conductor performance
Experience developing and reviewing IFC (Issued for Construction) design packages
Strong understanding of AESO requirements, AEUC, CSA standards, and IEEE standards
Experience with PLS-TOWER
Experience with transmission line ratings and ampacity assessments
Knowledge of lightning protection, grounding, and insulation coordination principles
Experience with line routing studies and structure spotting activities
Previous experience reviewing consultant deliverables and engineering designs
Familiarity with utility asset management and transmission system planning practices
Senior-level transmission engineering experience on large-scale capital projects
