About the Role

We are looking for a versatile Full-Stack Web Developer & Technical Team Lead to join our team.

This position is ideal for someone who can demonstrate strong technical ability through projects, personal work, previous employment, education, or other hands-on experience. Professional experience is not strictly required—we care more about what you can actually build, troubleshoot, and manage.

You will work primarily with React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Node.js, and Python, while also managing Linux servers and web infrastructure. You will also help coordinate a small team of sales representatives and graphic designers, ensuring that technical, creative, and sales work stays organized and moves forward efficiently.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, learning quickly, and taking ownership.

Responsibilities

Web Development

- Build and maintain modern, responsive web applications using React and Next.js

- Develop reusable interfaces and components using Tailwind CSS

- Build backend functionality and APIs using Node.js

- Work with databases and third-party APIs

- Optimize websites for performance, SEO, and accessibility

- Troubleshoot and improve existing applications

- Integrate websites with external services

- Write clean, maintainable code

Python & Automation

- Develop web scrapers and automated data collection tools using Python

- Process and organize scraped data

- Build automation tools to eliminate repetitive tasks

- Troubleshoot scraping and automation issues

Linux & Server Management

- Manage and maintain Linux servers

- Deploy and maintain Node.js applications

- Configure and troubleshoot Nginx

- Manage application processes using tools such as PM2 and systemd

- Configure domains, DNS, and SSL certificates

- Monitor application performance and server health

- Troubleshoot production issues

- Perform routine server maintenance and backups

Team Leadership & Coordination

- Coordinate the day-to-day activities of sales representatives and graphic designers

- Help prioritize and assign work

- Coordinate projects between sales, design, and development

- Provide technical guidance to sales staff when communicating with clients

- Help move projects from initial client discussions through design, development, and delivery

- Review work and maintain quality standards

- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and automate repetitive processes

- Help establish efficient systems for managing client projects

Required Skills

We are looking for proven ability, not necessarily a particular number of years of employment.

You should be able to demonstrate competence in several of the following:

- JavaScript / TypeScript

- React

- Next.js

- HTML / CSS

- Tailwind CSS

- Node.js

- Python

- Web scraping

- REST APIs

- Git

- Linux command line

- Linux server administration

- Nginx

- DNS and SSL configuration

- Database development, particularly MySQL

- Troubleshooting and debugging

Robust candidates should be comfortable taking an application from development to deployment and diagnosing problems when something goes wrong.

Technical Leadership

Technical ability is only part of the role. You should also be comfortable:

- Communicating technical concepts to non-technical people

- Organizing and prioritizing projects

- Coordinating people with different responsibilities

- Identifying bottlenecks and finding practical solutions

- Taking ownership of problems rather than waiting for detailed instructions

- Learning unfamiliar technologies when a project requires them

Previous management experience is helpful but not required. Demonstrated leadership through employment, school, personal projects, volunteer work, or other environments is valuable.

Nice-to-Have Skills

These are advantages, but not requirements:

- WHM/cPanel

- CI/CD

- SEO and Google Search Console

- Website performance optimization

- Experience with hosting environments

- Experience with third-party APIs and integrations

- Data processing and automation

- Previous team leadership or project coordination

- Sales or marketing experience

- Graphic design or familiarity with design workflows

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can show us what they can do.

A strong portfolio, GitHub repository, personal project, previous work, or technical demonstration can be just as valuable as formal employment experience.

For example, we'd be interested in seeing:

- A React or Next.js application you've built

- A website you've deployed yourself

- A Python scraper or automation project

- A Linux server you've configured

- An API or backend you've developed

- A personal software project you've taken from idea to completion

You don't need to know everything listed in this posting. Strong fundamentals, demonstrated problem-solving ability, initiative, and the ability to learn are more important than checking every box.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 30.0 per week

Benefits:

- Casual dress
- Flexible schedule

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6B 4M7
