SkyAlyne is a proud partnership between Canadian aviation and defence leaders, CAE and KF Aerospace, formed to provide a truly Canadian solution for Canada’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program, Canada’s next-generation military aircrew training program.
SkyAlyne has been selected as contractor for the FAcT Program. The program will be managed from the National Capital Region (Ottawa), with three operational locations: Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Southport (Portage la Prairie), Manitoba; and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The scope of the FAcT Program contract includes all training and in-service support requirements needed to prepare Pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators to meet the future aerospace requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force. In collaboration with the Government of Canada and several major Canadian subcontractors, SkyAlyne will provide live-flying, simulator and classroom-based training, facilities construction and management, information management and information technology support, site support services, aircraft maintenance and much more.

Job overview
The Training & Standards Specialist supports the Training Development team through the administration, tracking, coordination and distribution of training and standards documentation. This position plays a key role in supporting the development and continuous improvement of standards of instruction for the FAcT program liaising with multiple stakeholders, manufacturers and instructional staff. This role contributes to ensuring the program is aligned with the desired training design requirements and intended outcomes. This role will require a collaborative approach with senior training design staff, stakeholders, subject matters experts and technical personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Manager of Training and Standards in the execution of the development and delivery of related courseware and standards.
- Support the Lead Courseware Development in the execution of the development and validation of courseware.
- Develop control documents in collaboration with SMEs in compliance with program guidelines under direction from Manager Training and Standards, Lead Courseware Development, and the Chief Training Designer.
- Update control documents to ensure compliance with program guidelines and policies.
- Support the monitoring of instruction, course evaluation and recommend improvements among all standards personnel.
- Implement opportunities for efficiency and improvement in the execution of the program delivery.
- Support the Data Analytics team in the development of metrics that can be used to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the FAcT program.
- Produce supporting documentation related to the standards and evaluation process.
- Participate in regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to update on progress of development of curriculum control documents.
- Collaborate with representatives from subcontractors and the RCAF to identify and resolve issues as they surface.
- Operate digital tools to track program progress, training information, and evaluation activities.
- Support the maintenance of currency of source material, program references and curriculum control documents.
- Other duties as assigned under direction and guidance of the Manager Training and Standards and the Chief Training Designer.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Adult Learning or Evaluation & Measurement) with three (3+) years of learning and development experience.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, evaluation methodology and learning technology principles and trends.
- Experience with content creation including development of e-learning modules, training, written guides, and other resources aimed to enhance knowledge, skills, and competencies.
- Experience in designing and delivering learning and development plans that support the job architecture, skill development and career pathways.
- An understanding of the CFITES process.
- Strong interpersonal skills and highly effective at developing positive working relationships.
- Proficient facilitation skills and familiarity with learning tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Be able to hold a Government of Canada Security Clearance (Secret level).
- Be able to hold Government of Canada site/information access certifications, including accessing Protected “B” information, Controlled Goods Clearance, and ITAR Clearance.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Experience in a standards function is an asset.
- Fluency in French would be an asset.
- Experience in the Defence and Aerospace industries would be an asset.
