About the Role
We are looking for a patient, caring childcare qualified to support a 5-year-old child with behavioral needs in a warm family home. The ideal candidate has a background in Early Childhood Assistance (ECA) or equivalent experience and is comfortable using positive, structured approaches to guide a young child through their daily routine.
Responsibilities
- Behavioral Guidance and Routine Management: Use patient, positive reinforcement and behavior support strategies to help the child manage routines, stay focused, and meet their behavioral needs.
- Academic Assistance: Guide the child through simple homework and basic skill-building and learning activities.
- Structured Play: Plan and lead creative, positive indoor activities such as coloring, board games, puzzles, art projects,
and interactive play to keep the child constructively engaged.
- Outdoor Supervision: Safely accompany the child on walks and outdoor play at the park directly behind the home.
- Snack and Meal Preparation: Prepare simple, child-friendly snacks and slice fresh fruit throughout the shift.
- Light Housekeeping: Keep the child's activity areas tidy, including loading and unloading the dishwasher and folding laundry.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: Work comfortably and safely around the family's two rescue dogs.
Qualifications
- ECA training or relevant childcare experience (preferred)
- Experience supporting children with behavioral needs
- Patient, calm, and reliable
- Comfortable around dogs
