About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and self-sufficient Senior Accountant to own the day-to-day financial operations of the business. You will work closely with our fractional CFO, sales team, and operations team to ensure the books are accurate, cash flow is healthy, and financial processes are continuously improving.
This is a primarily remote role, but you must be based in the GTA and available for in-person collaboration as needed. The work environment is dynamic and unstructured — we are looking for someone who thrives with autonomy, takes initiative, and can build and improve processes without being handed a playbook.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Bookkeeping & Accounting
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement)
- Perform monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts and corporate credit cards
- Match customer payments to sales invoices (sales invoicing is handled by the sales team)
- Support the fractional CFO with reporting, analysis, and ad hoc financial tasks
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule using 3 rd party service provider
- Work closely with the Operations team to ensure inventory records are accurate and up to date in the ERP system
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Manage the AR aging schedule and follow up on outstanding balances proactively
- Conduct collections outreach and escalate as needed
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Set up and manage payment runs
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Cash Flow Management
- Monitor daily cash position and maintain a rolling cash flow forecast
- Support timing decisions around AP disbursements and AR collections to optimize working capital
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and file HST/GST returns
- Ensure CRA remittances (payroll source deductions, HST) are submitted accurately and on time
- Support year-end tax preparation and liaise with external accountants as required
Process Improvement
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies in existing accounting workflows
- Collaborate with the team to design and implement improved processes and controls
- Help build and document accounting procedures as the company scales
What We're Looking For
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience with demonstrated ownership of the responsibilities listed above
- Background in consumer packaged goods, retail, food & beverage, or manufacturing is required — you must understand inventory-based businesses
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems; experience with inventory modules is a strong asset
- Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with data-heavy reporting
Skills & Attributes
- Self-starter who can operate independently in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
- Solid problem-solving instincts — you figure things out rather than waiting to be told
- Collaborative team player who communicates clearly with non-finance stakeholders
- High attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
- Primarily remote work with scheduling flexibility
- A front-row seat at a growing CPG company with genuine career development opportunity
- A collaborative, entrepreneurial team culture where your contributions are recognized
Pay: $44,364.72-$87,955.99 per year
