Position: Maintenance Manager

Salary: $45,000–$50,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Hours: 30 hours per week, salaried

Schedule: Subject to review after a 90-day orientation period

About the Position

Country Lane Co-operative Homes is seeking an experienced, skilled, reliable, and community-minded Maintenance Manager who takes pride in doing things well and enjoys working independently.

This is an opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who values the stability of a permanent position in a small, community-oriented workplace. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking responsibility for a wide range of maintenance issues, using sound judgment to set priorities, and handling unexpected situations calmly and professionally.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of the co-op's buildings and common areas. Duties include preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance; maintaining accurate electronic maintenance and inventory records; coordinating outside contractors when required; and working closely with staff, volunteers, members, and the Board to help ensure a safe and well-maintained community.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

- Several years of broad, hands-on experience** in property maintenance, building repair, or a similar role.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, hardware installation, and basic building systems.
- Knowledge of safe work practices, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, and WHMIS.
- The ability to work independently and responsibly, with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.




- Good judgment and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and unexpected situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, professionalism, and emotional maturity.
- Professionalism, discretion, and respect when working in members' homes.
- The ability to address concerns calmly and constructively and maintain positive working relationships with members, volunteers, staff, contractors, and the Board.
- Comfort using computers, email, and workplace software, including electronic maintenance records, work orders, reports, and inventory systems.
- A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Experience in co-operative housing, non-profit housing, property management, customer service, or other community-focused environments is considered an asset.
