Conduct outreach with “friends”/clients of Helping Hands to collect data on residence/encampment locations, services used, and services needed.
Create andmaintaina secure, confidential map/database (digital or paper) of clients’ living locations, encampments, and service-usage patterns.
Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and community service agencies to verify data and update records.
Help analyze gaps in service usage and prepare summary reports to support advocacy and resource planning (e.g. for municipal outreach).
Justification / How it meets CSJ quality & community benefit criteria:
This project addresses a real community-need: mapping where unhoused clients live and what services they use/don’tuse — enabling better resource allocation.
It will help Helping Hands and the City respond more effectively to local priorities (homelessness, community support)
—alignswith CSJ’s objective of supporting community organizations providing socialsupports.
Provides youth with skills: data collection, community outreach, research, mapping, communication, confidentiality, teamwork — valuable for future work or further studies.

Type: in office + off-site (for mapping/database work)
Frequency: daily check-ins in the field; weekly formal review meetings.
Feedback: Informal daily guidance; formal weekly written or verbal check-ins.
Preferred education level: high school or post-secondary (but open)
