Director, Data Centres and New Large Loads - Power Market

Anoverview of your future role at BBA

BBAsupports all players across the energy ecosystem, including power generation, transmissionand distribution. We also support large industrial energy users, mainly in the mining,oil and gas sectors. More recently, we’ve seen growing demand from a new categoryof large energy consumers, particularly data centres. To date, BBA’sinvolvement in the data centre market has been largely reactive, with developersand builders reaching out to us for our expertise in grid interconnections and powersystems. Going forward, BBA will take a deliberate and proactive approach tothis market by establishing a dedicated data centre business line.

Drawingon more than 45 years of experience solving complex electrical challenges,BBA’s go-to-market strategy will be guided by the following principles:

- Avoid commoditybuilding design and leverage strategic partnerships where appropriate.
- Focus on projects largerthan 25 MW.
- Lead the high-voltagescope.
- Lead grid integrationactivities.
- Lead substationdesign and delivery.
- Lead generationstrategy development.

Anoverview of your mandates and responsibilities

You’ll source and ensure successful delivery ofpower projects to meet the energy needs of large-load clients, primarily data centres. You’ll also occasionally support other industrial, community and utilityclients operating in remote or partially grid‑connected environments. Initially, the role willfocus on regional clients across Canada and gradually expand to include the U.S.market.

As a renewable power professional, you’ll lead themodelling, optimization and delivery of complex energy projects involvingrenewable technologies, including wind, solar PV, BESS, thermal andhydroelectric power. Your work will include studies, roadmaps and projectexecution.

BBA operates within a matrix structure, and the NewLarge Loads business line you’ll lead has both national and internationalfocus. The business line is accountable for defining market strategy and overseeingsector performance. To deliver on its mandates, it works closely with BBA’soperational teams and disciplines across Canada and the USA. While mostprojects are executed through these regional teams, the business line may also directly manage and deliver certain strategic initiatives.

- Coordinate the development and execution of BBA’s data centre market strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders across the data centre, utilities andindustrial sectors
- Support the development of short‑, medium‑ and long‑term opportunitypipelines while identifying cross‑selling opportunities for BBA’s services
- Support project sourcing efforts by identifying opportunities that align with regional priorities across Canadaand evolving data centre power needs
- Contribute to proposal development, client positioning and pursuit strategies for power and energy mandates
- Maintain a strong understanding of energymarket trends, particularly for data centres, off‑grid, hybrid and utility‑linked power systems.

Operations

- Serve as project manager and technical lead for selected strategic projects, including project development support, feasibility studies, roadmaps and execution mandates
- Provide subject‑matter expertise in the modelling, optimization and integration of renewable and hybrid powersystems (wind, solar PV, CSP, BESS, thermal storage, hydroelectric)
- Oversee technical reviews and coordinate engineering and design activities across disciplines
- Work closely with BBA’s multidisciplinary teams across Canada to ensure execution excellence and alignment with client objectives
- Help develop internal expertise in data centre development, power system optimization, hybrid energy solutions and renewable integration
- Support the development of tools, methodologies and reference models for studies, roadmaps and system optimization




- Participate in knowledge sharing and thought leadership activities, including internal training, technical contributions and industry engagements.

Summary of certifications andjob requirements

- Engineering degree in a related discipline from a recognized university
- At least 15 years of relevant experience
- Experience in data centre development and execution, wind and/or solar power energy, consulting engineering, business development and project execution
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada
- Experience in equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates
- Available to travel to domestic or international destinations is required.
