Description:
Effective immediately the Department of Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children, (SickKids), 555 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario is recruiting for a permanent full time faculty position as an Academic Clinician in the Division of Rheumatology. SickKids is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children and is a fully affiliated hospital with the University of Toronto.
The Division provides tertiary and quaternary care for children with rheumatic diseases and has established a tradition of excellence in clinical care, education and research. Subspecialty clinics for children and adolescents with dermatomyositis, morphea, systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, autoinflammatory diseases, spondyloarthritis, CNO and systemic lupus erythematosus are well established. The Fellowship Training Program is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Independent and collaborative clinical and basic science research is performed by Division members.
We encourage applications from individuals within 10 years of completing their rheumatology training, with preference given to applicants who are in early to mid-career stage. Expertise or a focused interest in autoinflammatory diseases or vasculitis is preferred; training in quality improvement and safety or musculoskeletal ultrasound would be an asset. The role’s primary responsibilities are delivering excellent clinical care and pursuing scholarly academic work. Our large, collaborative multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, allied health professionals,
researchers, and administrative staff provides many opportunities for academic contribution.
Clinical activities will include ambulatory clinics, attending and consulting inpatients, and participating in on-call responsibilities. In addition to scholarly academic work, educational activities will include the teaching and supervision of learners including students, residents and fellows. Additional responsibilities include attending divisional meetings, participating in the weekly academic half day, weekly Paediatric Grand Rounds and other educational sessions. The candidate is also expected to take part in divisional and departmental administrative duties and participate in CME events.
The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($275,548 to $340,000) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.
All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD,
MBBS or the equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualification. The successful candidate must have completed subspecialty training in Rheumatology and must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
