Our engineers build secure, end-to-end solutions. We are looking for an outstanding software engineer to join the Apple Universal Media team and help us build the next generation products that change the way millions of users consume video. As a Software Engineer at Apple, you will be owning key modules of the product and be responsible for delivering industry grade quality solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy resilient, high-scale full-stack applications and services.
- Architect and maintain backend microservices using Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot), integrating with distributed datastores and caching layers (Cassandra, Redis, Solr).
- Build streaming data pipelines and event-driven architectures leveraging Apache Kafka.
- Design and document clean RESTful and event-driven APIs connecting web clients to distributed backend systems.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements, system contracts, and technical roadmaps.
- Uphold high standards for code quality through unit/integration testing, automated CI/CD pipelines, comprehensive code reviews, and observability instrumentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience in full-stack engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Java and modern backend frameworks (such as Spring / Spring Boot).
- Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, RESTful web services, and object-oriented / functional design principles.
- Experience writing automated tests across the stack (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Computer Science or related field.
- 6+ years of relevant full-stack software development experience.
- Hands-on experience with distributed data technologies: Apache Cassandra, Apache Solr (or Elasticsearch/Lucene), Redis, and Apache Kafka.
- Deep expertise in asynchronous and reactive architectures, high-concurrency systems, and low-latency data retrieval.
- Experience with web performance profiling, accessibility standards, and modern build toolchains.
- Background in media, digital asset management, or video streaming platforms.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $119,100 and $230,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple Inc.’s discretionary employee stock programs. Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit award recommendations, and can purchase Apple Inc. stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple Inc.’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
