Bigstone Child & Family Services is seeking a Finance Officer to support day-to-day financial administration, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation.

LOCATION: In office, Wabasca, AB

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full time Permanent

REPORTS TO: Finance Controller

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Prepare and record journal entries as required
Maintain financial records, receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation
Review submitted financial information for completeness and accuracy and follow up on discrepancies
Reconcile accounts and vendor statements and prepare required corrections or adjustments
Enter financial information into Sage accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Maintain vendor information and communicate with vendors as required




Assist with annual audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as requested
Complete required data entry and organize supporting documentation for financial reporting and purchase orders
Provide accurate and timely information and service to internal and external contacts

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
Business Administration Certificate, Accounting Diploma, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience using Sage accounting software is an asset
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and standard office systems
Valuable understanding of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting practices
Strong time-management, organizational, accuracy, and confidentiality skills
Experience working with First Nation communities is an asset
Ability to speak or understand Cree is an asset
Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
