Reporting to the Live-in Treatment Supervisor, the Residential Child and Youth Worker (CYW) works as part of an interdisciplinary team delivering direct services to clients with mental health needs. The Residential CYW is responsible for providing a safe and therapeutic environment in which individual client goals are actualized. All Kinark employees share the responsibility of workplace health and safety and the prevention of workplace hazards.

In addition, it is significant that the Residential CYW develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with clients, families and guardians and is adept at modeling positive social and problem solving skills, and skilled at behaviour management. This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 2860 .
The position will be scheduled to meet program needs as per the Collective Agreement.
Qualifications
Child and Youth Worker diploma plus at least one year related experience
Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills
Current valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certificate
Training in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour
Understanding group dynamics and robust skills in group and individual counseling
Candidates must also possess valuable report writing skills
Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical
Candidates Bilingual in English and French will be given special consideration
