Support Indigenous students as a Casual Indigenous Education Advocate with School District No. 91 in Burns Lake. Provide cultural and emotional support while collaborating with teachers for student success.
School District No. 91 (Nechako Lakes) is seeking a Casual Indigenous Education Advocate. This role includes offering cultural support, serving as a positive role model, and advocating for student needs within a adaptable working schedule. Ideal candidates will have experience with Indigenous students and knowledge of local communities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide cultural and language support to Indigenous students
• Serve as a positive Indigenous role model
• Collaborate with teachers for academic and emotional needs
• Communicate effectively with families and guardians
• Submit regular reports to the Indigenous Education Department
Requirements:
• Completed Grade 12 and two years of relevant post-secondary studies
• Minimum six months experience with Indigenous students
• Familiarity with local Indigenous communities and band offices
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with clean record
• Must complete Criminal Record Check through CRRP
