Description
Full-Time Occupational Therapist – Community Based Role in Victoria
What if your workplace wasn’t just one location?
Imagine starting your day with a home visit, spending your afternoon helping someone prepare to return to work, and finishing your day knowing that the strategies you provided are making a difference in your client’s everyday life.
CBI Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Community Rehabilitation Services team in Victoria, BC.
This is an opportunity to work directly with clients in the places where rehabilitation matters most — their homes, workplaces and communities. You’ll use your clinical expertise, creativity and problem-solving skills to help clients overcome barriers, regain independence and return to the activities and roles that are meaningful to them.
What you'll do/A Day in the Life of a Community Based OT
Every day is different — and that’s what makes community OT so rewarding. One day you may be assessing a client’s home environment. The next, you could be completing a workplace assessment, supporting a return-to-work plan or helping someone regain confidence in their community.
Start your day: Review your schedule, client goals and upcoming visits, and connect with your team regarding any priorities.
Home assessment: Visit a client in their home to understand how their injury or health condition is affecting their everyday activities, identify barriers and develop practical strategies to support independence.
Community visit: Work with a client in their community to build confidence and support participation in meaningful, everyday activities.
Documentation & collaboration: Complete clinical documentation and connect with case managers, physicians,
employers or other healthcare professionals regarding client progress and recommendations.
Workplace assessment: Visit a client at their workplace to understand the demands of their role, identify barriers and develop recommendations to support a safe and sustainable return to work.
Client follow-up: Review progress, provide education and strategies, and adjust the rehabilitation plan based on the client’s changing needs and goals.
Wrap up your day: Complete reports, plan upcoming visits and connect with your team as needed — knowing your work has helped someone take another step toward independence, recovery and returning to the life they want to live.
