EDUCATION College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
TASKS Operate heavy equipment
Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
Measure distance, volume, length and weight
Operate computer controlled equipment
Complete onboard and other logs
Conduct pre-operative checks on equipment
Prepare accident reports
Secure special attachments to equipment
Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
Perform minor repairs to equipment
Operate hydraulic pumping systems
CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, MEMBERSHIPS, AND COURSES Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification
Driver's License (Class 3 or D)
First Aid Certificate
