As a Counsellor, you'll work under the Manager of Counselling, providing individual and group counselling. Your role involves assessing emergencies, crisis response, and integrating culturally relevant approaches to assist various student populations. This position emphasizes anti-oppressive and anti-racist support for students, promoting mental health awareness while collaborating on workshops and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide personal counselling and psychotherapy using brief therapy
• Assess emergency situations and deliver crisis intervention
• Tailor practice skills for individual client needs
• Facilitate internal and external client referrals
• Consult on cases with the counselling management team
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Arts, Education or related field
• Minimum 3 years direct counselling experience in post-secondary
• Registration with a regulatory body in Nova Scotia
• Knowledge in trauma-informed practices and cultural competence
• Strong experience with crisis counselling and assessment skills
