Job Description Position Purpose summary Current Directions Community Residential Facility, (CRF) provides residential support to adult male offenders who are conditionally released to the community. The Caseworker supports the mission of The Salvation Army through positive interactions with clients by fulfilling main reception duties.

This Position Description will be reviewed by the employee and supervisor on a regular basis. Amendments can be made at any time at the discretion of the employer.
Service Responsibilities To be responsible for the operation of the Front Desk and provide support to the Correctional Worker.
To provide counselling to clients as required.
To provide referrals and support to clients in monitoring their release to the facility and the conditions of their release in compliance with the guidelines of the Salvation Army and the terms of release outlined by Correctional Services of Canada.
To provide oversight to the main reception office.
To monitor the daily activities of offenders.
To record all activities in the Daily Log and other client records.
To be familiar with emergency plans.




Perform other position related duties as required.
Organizational Responsibilities Develop an understanding of the Mission of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities and support the Mission in all aspects of work, including the manner in which responsibilities are fulfilled
Maintain information in confidence as required
Participate as an active and responsible team member in all work groups through which position responsibilities are achieved
Represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner and assist personnel whom the position supports in developing those skills as required
Participate in the probationary and annual performance appraisal process.
Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications One year college or university in Correctional Services or Social Services (Education)
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community correctional setting preferred (Experience)
Strong oral and written communication skills
Self motivated and disciplined
Experience/Working knowledge in word processing; spread sheet use
Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment. Clearance through Corrections Canada, Enhanced Reliability screening is required Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry. Nonviolent-Crisis Intervention an asset Support for and commitment to the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

This is a full time position based on 37.50 hours per week. ½ hour unpaid meal break. Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $24.74 to $24.99 with a maximum of $25.24. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
