The Role:
Advanced Bending Technologies is seeking an experienced Bending Operator to join our production team.
This position is ideally suited for a skilled operator who can independently set up tooling, interpret spool drawings, and produce accurate, repeatable bends in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate rotary draw/mandrel bending equipment
Select and install bend dies, clamp dies, pressure dies, wiper dies, and mandrels
Read and interpret spool drawings, fabrication drawings, and work orders
Produce high-quality bends that meet customer specifications and tolerances
Verify dimensions and perform in-process quality inspections
Troubleshoot tooling, setup, and production issues
Safely handle pipe, tube, and tooling using overhead cranes and shop equipment
Set up machines for each specific order
Handle raw material and finished product as needed
Bend and roll various materials and profiles
Perform other shop duties including torch cutting, saw cutting, washing, sand filling, etc.
Measure and inspect in-process and finished product
Verify calibration of measuring devices
Label and package finished product as needed
Perform machine lubrication, maintenance, and work station upkeep
Assist with shipping and receiving when necessary
Working in accordance with documented policies and procedures
Complete all applicable quality records
What You Bring:
Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and persuasively
Self-starter, with the ability to work efficiently in a team environment
Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
Detail-oriented, analytical, with good organizational skills
Quick study, proactive, solutions oriented
Innovative and open to new concepts
Interested in assisting the growth of the company, increasing efficiency and service, and increasing the effectiveness of the team as a whole
Ability to read and interpret spool drawings and fabrication drawings
Must have basic math skills
Able to accurately read a tape measure
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum 5 years of rotary draw/mandrel bending experience
Proficiency in multiple bending processes (minimum 6 months)
Materials knowledge, shop procedures (minimum 6 months)
Material handling experience (minimum 6 months)
Experience performing complete tooling setups and machine changeovers
Strong understanding of:
Pipe and tube sizes
Material grades and specifications
Wall thicknesses and pipe schedules
Overhead crane and fabrication experience considered an asset
Schedule:
8-hour shift
Monday to Friday, Available for shift work (afternoons)
