Roc-Kon Concrete | Kamloops, BC
Full-time
$30 to $55 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Roc-Kon Concrete is hiring an experienced, reliable person to join our team in Kamloops as soon as possible.
Our top priority is finding someone properly licensed and experienced in operating an air-brake-equipped medium-duty truck.
This is not a dedicated driving position. You will be part of the field crew, helping with Roc-Kon's concrete, flooring and surface preparation work while also driving the company truck and transporting equipment and materials to job sites.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with both air brake driving experience and a solid construction background. Experience in the type of work we do is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person with strong hands‑on experience, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
Driver Qualifications
Minimum driving requirements:
Full-privilege B.C. Class 5 driver's licence
Valid B.C. Air Brake Endorsement, Code 15
Experience operating air-brake-equipped vehicles
Comfortable operating a two‑axle medium‑duty cube or straight truck
Experience completing vehicle and air brake pre‑trip inspections
Secure and responsible driving record
Comfortable transporting tools, equipment and construction materials
A B.C. Class 1 or Class 3 commercial driver's licence is a strong asset but is not required for this position.
Preference will be given to applicants who have both air brake driving experience and construction or trades experience.
Construction Experience
Experience in any of the following areas is an asset:
Concrete work
Concrete grinding
Concrete polishing
Floor preparation
Floor levelling
Concrete coatings or epoxy systems
Flooring removal
Concrete slab repair
Saw cutting
Concrete demolition and infill
Renovations and tenant improvements
Restoration work
Carpentry
Flooring
Painting and finishing
General construction
Other hands‑on trades
You do not need to have experience in every service Roc-Kon provides.
Someone with a solid construction background,
good mechanical ability and a willingness to learn can be trained in the specialized parts of the work.
What You'll Be Doing
Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:
Driving the company air‑brake‑equipped medium‑duty truck
Transporting equipment, tools and materials to and from job sites
Completing vehicle and equipment inspections
Loading and unloading tools and equipment
Concrete grinding and surface preparation
Concrete polishing
Floor levelling
Applying concrete coatings and finishing systems
Flooring and coating removal
Concrete slab and crack repair
Saw cutting
Concrete demolition and infill
Operating grinders, saws, vacuums and other specialty equipment
Job‑site setup and cleanup
Working alongside other trades and contractors
Travel and Work Schedule
Roc-Kon is based in Kamloops, B.C.
Most of our work is in Kamloops and throughout Interior B.C., but projects can also take us to the Fraser Valley, Lower Mainland and other areas of the province.
Some projects require out-of-town work and travel, so applicants must be comfortable travelling when required.
Our regular work is typically scheduled during normal construction hours. However, depending on the project, there may occasionally be a need for overtime, evening or night work, early starts, or adjusted schedules to meet site and customer requirements.
These schedules are not the norm, but we are looking for someone who is flexible and willing to work with the needs of the project when they come up.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
Is reliable and shows up ready to work
Takes pride in doing quality work
Is comfortable working with tools and equipment
Is mechanically inclined
Takes care of company vehicles,
tools and equipment
Is physically capable of hands‑on construction work
Works well independently and as part of a crew
Follows safe work practices
Is comfortable travelling for projects when required
Is flexible with occasional overtime, travel and adjusted project schedules
Is willing to learn new equipment, materials and techniques
Wants to develop additional skills and take on more responsibility over time
Experience Preferred, Training Available
Our ideal candidate has air brake driving experience, a construction background and experience in one or more of Roc-Kon's specialty services.
We also understand that the right person may not have done this exact type of work before.
If you have a full B.C. Class 5 licence with a valid Code 15 Air Brake Endorsement and experience in construction or another hands‑on trade, we would still like to hear from you.
We are willing to train the right person in the specialized parts of the job.
