Purpose

This position handles raw material processing including washing, spin drying and operating food processing machinery. This is a physically demanding role which requires working in a wet and cold workplace.

Responsibilities

- Arrange, organize, and transfer raw material.
- Wash and spin dry raw material using spin drying machine.
- Lift up to 70 lbs or more on a frequent basis to transfer or palletize product.
- Assist in inspecting food quality to
- Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
- Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
- Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
- Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
- Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents,

Experience

- 0-1 years of experience
- Previous experience in food processing or warehouse distribution considered an asset.
- Previous experience operating power equipment such as a Forklift is considered an asset.

Physical Demands

- High repetitive stretching, lifting and bending.
- Reasonable accommodations will be taken where necessary
- Repetitive handle 50 to 80 lb (70%).
- Operate food processing machinery (20%).
- Organize product includes transportation by pallet jack in production area and wrapping pallet (10%).
- Noisy environment, hearing protection provided.
- Wet and cool environment (4 to 7 degrees Celsius, 100%)
- May require operating Rider and Manual pallet jack.
