Join the Clara Thomas Archives & Special Collections at York University as an Adjunct Archivist focused on the Irving Abella Fonds. This one-year contract role involves archival arrangement and description work.
This position begins January 1, 2027, and requires a Master’s in archival studies or library information sciences. You will bring at least one year of archival experience to a team within a small yet dynamic department focused on Canadian Jewish Studies. Your primary responsibility will be the appraisal and arrangement of Dr. Irving Abella's archives, alongside a variety of departmental tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Organize and describe archival records of Irving Abella
• Provide archival reference services in an academic environment
• Contribute to metadata creation for digitized materials
• Participate in Libraries’ committees and activities
• Engage in career development and contribute to scholarship
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in archival studies or library sciences
• Minimum one year professional archives experience
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to process records independently and collaboratively
• Detail-oriented with project management capabilities
