About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief
As a Relief Mail Carrier with Canada Post in Wiarton, you'll be responsible for sorting, collecting, and delivering mail items safely and on schedule. Day-to-day, a Relief Mail Carrier is on the move - sorting mail,



navigating rural routes, and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely. These responsibilities are the backbone of reliable postal service in Wiarton and the surrounding communities.

Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner

Acquire and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles

Secure mail properly while in your possession throughout the delivery route

Process CPC products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)

Wear Canada Post identification and ensure its visibility at all times while delivering and collecting mail

Lift and carry items up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg

Operate a motor vehicle safely in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate for this on-call mail carrier role is someone who takes secure driving seriously , can work independently, and is physically capable of handling the demands of a delivery route. Canada Post values candidates who are organized, reliable, and community-focused .

Valid provincial driver's licence - Class 5 or G required

Satisfactory safe driving record - a driver's abstract will be required

Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied conditions

Vehicle meeting mandatory requirements : minimum 50 cu ft cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, and window sill height between 38" and 45" from the ground

Automobile liability insurance for use of your personal vehicle, with notification to your insurer regarding Canada Post use

Residence within 75 km of the Wiarton Post Office is preferred

English language proficiency - English is essential for this role
