Role Description
The Medical Office Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at CORNERSTONE FAMILY CLINIC in Kamloops, BC. This position supports daily clinic operations by greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out procedures, and scheduling appointments. The Medical Office Assistant responds to phone inquiries, updates patient information, processes forms, and maintains organized medical records in accordance with privacy standards. Daily tasks include handling correspondence, preparing examination rooms with required supplies, and assisting with billing or payment processing as needed. The role also involves using office equipment,



coordinating with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow, and providing transparent, courteous communication to patients and visitors.

Qualifications

Strong phone etiquette and professional communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Experience with administrative assistance and clerical skills, including scheduling, filing, and record maintenance.

Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment, such as multi-line phone systems, printers, scanners, and fax machines.

Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinical environment.

Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic medical record or practice management systems (or willingness to learn).

Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and respect for patient confidentiality and privacy regulations.

Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is an asset.

Relevant certificate or diploma in Medical Office Assisting or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
