Course Title: Statistics II for Science Lab (MATH 2250L WI01, MATH 2250L WI02, MATH 2250L WI03)
Contract Term: December 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027
Course Schedule: Winter Term: Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00am - 12:20pm, 1:00pm - 2:20pm, 2:30pm - 3:50pm
Course Format: In-person at Acadia University

Stipend Amount: The current Per Course stipend for this appointment is specified in Appendices H and I of the 17th Collective Agreement .
Course Description: Math 2250L is the lab for Math 2253. The labs demonstrate the application of the statistical methods taught in Math 2253 using a variety of data sets and the R programing language.
Math 2253 Calendar Description:
Further topics in probability including independence and conditional probability, Binomial and Poisson distributions; estimation, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing for (i) proportions in one and two populations, (ii) means in one and two populations, (iii) linear regression models, (iv) goodness of fit and contingency tables (v)other statistical models. Science applications will be used throughout the course. (3h lecture, 1.5h lab).
Math 2253 follows on from Math 1253 and is a second Introductory Statistics course for students studying in Science. (3h lecture, 1.5h studio)
Multiple sections of Math 2253 at Acadia are taught in coordination with one another,
and the successful candidate shall coordinate the labs with the instructors of Math 2253.
Qualifications : Master's or PhD in Mathematics/Statistics or a related discipline.
