(https://www.seafair.ca/news/owncare-novascotia) This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will lead all aspects of Human Resources, partnering with leadership to attract, support and retain an engaged, values-driven team. It is a true generalist role with a strong focus on recruitment, engagement and employee experience, and it is ideal for someone who is energized by building, not just maintaining, and who is comfortable being both strategic and hands-on. This full-time role is based out of Brightisle’s new Halifax office.
What You’ll Be Doing: Lead full-cycle recruitment, from job design and posting through screening, interviewing and offers.
Build creative sourcing strategies to attract mission-aligned talent, and partner with leaders to forecast hiring needs and workforce plans.
Design and implement engagement strategies that foster connection and belonging, and support onboarding experiences that set employees up for success.
Monitor turnover, identify trends and proactively address retention risks, including through surveys, check-ins and stay interviews.
Support leaders with performance management, coaching and development planning, and help design easy,
effective performance processes.
Identify training needs, coordinate learning opportunities, and coach leaders on having meaningful, constructive conversations.
Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on day-to-day HR matters, including conflict resolution, investigations and complex employee situations.
Ensure fair, consistent and compassionate handling of people issues, and provide guidance on policies, best practices and employment legislation.
Implement HR policies, processes and tools from the ground up, and ensure compliance with employment standards and legislation in Nova Scotia.
Maintain employee records and support HR systems, including CRM/HRIS integration.
Support the development and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety programs, and help build a culture where safety, wellbeing and respect are shared responsibilities.
Use data and insights to inform decisions and improve outcomes across the employee lifecycle.
What you will bring: 3-5 years of progressive HR experience at the generalist or advisor level.
Strong experience in recruitment and employee relations.
Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Honest, grounded and people-first, with a genuine interest in how employees experience their work.
Independent and resourceful, with the initiative to figure things out and build from the ground up.
Experience with HR systems, CRMs, or other tech-enabled environments.
