HIRING RANGE: $47.52 – $52.80, compensation commensurate with experience
The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health center integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). GH-CCMH is also a member of the Thriving Minds Mental Health Access Collaborative with CAMH and SickKids and a core service provider in the Toronto sector of infant, child and youth mental health services funded by the Ministry of Health (MOH). GH-CCMH provides prevention, early intervention and health promotion services across the city, funded by MOH and other sources. As such, the Centre has an ambitious agenda to provide the highest quality, evidence-based care, offering a range of services from prevention and early intervention to counseling and therapy, assessment and intensive supports. Services are offered in person and in virtual format. We are seeking applicants to fill a full-time position as a Child and Family Therapist. This chance is within our Intensive Services program, with a heavy focus on our Children’s Day Treatment Program. The successful candidate will serve as a case manager providing direct mental health treatment services, including individual, family, and group treatment, along with case coordination, across school, home,
and community settings, as a key member of our interdisciplinary treatment team.
Key Responsibilities: Therapeutic Services Provides individualized, assessment, treatment and follow-up services
Provides case management, liaison and referral services for clients and families
Coordinates services with internal and external service providers, requesting and reviewing existing documentation and reports to inform client service and treatment planning
Collaborates with the family,and inter-professional teams in the assessment process, development of a service plan and to support treatment planning and discharge planning
Facilitate therapy groups for clients and families
Provides flexible family therapy
Completes all client documentation (including, but not limited to, contact notes, service plans, treatment reports, safetyt/serious occurrence reports, referral forms, etc.) in a timely and succinct manner meeting agency, professional and legal requirements
Ensures that all required client tracking and statistical information is submitted according to Agency Procedures
Promotes the direction of the program and Centre by engaging in identifying, developing and implementing program goal(s), projects or services
Participates in relevant meetings, reports regularly, and as required to the designated supervisor
Contributes to the Centre’s academic mandate and to the field of children’s mental health through training, education, and/or the supervision and evaluation of students/trainees/volunteers
May provide services both in-office and within client’s homes and communities
May be required to supervise students
Other Complies with the organization’s vision, policies and procedures
Performs other tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in a mental health discipline (if from outside Ontario, must demonstrate that all registration requirements can be met at time of hiring)
Registration with the relevant accrediting professional body is required
Minimum 3 years related experience in children’s mental health treatment, including working with children 0 – 18 years of age
Current CPR/First aid and behavior management training
Understanding and analysis of issues of marginalization and oppression are necessary to work in this role
Possess above-average skills in family/child engagement, assessment, formulation and treatment
Skills in teaching and training and supervision of students
Good knowledge of MS Office Suites ( Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
This position will require that the successful candidate Be able to work flexible including evenings
Be able to travel to various locations for service and attend meetings off-site
In addition, the following are considered an asset Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
