What you will do
As Vice President, you will own the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and evaluating opportunities to executing transactions and driving post-close value creation. You will also play a key role in developing team members, leading firm initiatives and representing Novacap externally with management teams, advisors and investors.

Main responsibilities

Lead end-to-end transaction execution, including strategic, operational and financial due diligence.

Build investment theses and structure deals to align with strategic objectives.

Lead deal negotiations with management teams, shareholders and third parties.

Present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee with confidence and clarity.

Coordinate third-party advisors (legal, financial, industry and others) and internal deal teams.

Raise debt and equity capital, and manage transaction documentation.





Support deal sourcing and portfolio construction in collaboration with senior partners.

Sit on portfolio company boards and act as a trusted partner to C-level executives.

Support strategic planning, value creation initiatives and operational performance tracking.

Lead or support key transactions within portfolio companies, such as add-ons, refinancings and exits.

Evaluate and manage risk, and provide guidance on the recruitment of key executives.

Build and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders across portfolio sectors.

Team leadership & mentorship

Manage and coach junior colleagues across deal workstreams.

Provide training, feedback and career development guidance.

Foster a culture of collaboration, integrity and excellence across the team.

Strategic firm contribution

Represent Novacap externally with co-investors, intermediaries and limited partners.

Contribute to fund strategy, sourcing processes and industry mapping.

Lead or participate in internal initiatives such as process improvements, culture-building and tooling.

What you will bring
Your skills, knowledge and experience are what set you apart.





Seven to ten years of experience in private equity, investment banking, venture capital or mergers and acquisitions.

Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics or engineering; an MBA, CFA, CPA or CAIA designation is an asset.

Demonstrated track record of leading complex investment processes.

Strong investment judgment, with the ability to develop and defend investment theses.

Experience managing cross-functional deal teams and external advisors.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including executive-level presence.

Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, is required given our cross-border activities and our colleagues across Canada and the United States.

Strategic leadership: sets direction on investment theses and portfolio priorities, and carries the team with it.

Decision-making: weighs incomplete information and commits, then owns the outcome.

Vision execution: converts a thesis into a sequenced plan and sees it through to close and beyond.

Negotiation: holds the firm's position with management teams, shareholders and advisors while preserving the relationship.

Business development: opens and sustains channels that generate proprietary opportunities.
