Support Indigenous students in Fort St. James as a Casual Indigenous Education Advocate with School District No. 91. Provide cultural and emotional guidance while acting as a positive role model.
This casual position offers an chance to help Indigenous students navigate their educational journey. You will deliver cultural, academic, and social-emotional support while collaborating closely with teachers and families. Advocating for student needs and participating in school teams are essential aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide cultural and language support to Indigenous students
• Act as a positive Indigenous role model for students
• Collaborate with teachers on students’ needs
• Communicate with families to promote success
• Submit reports to the Indigenous Education Department
Requirements:
• Grade 12 completion (Dogwood Certificate)
• Two years of relevant post-secondary studies
• Minimum of 6 months experience with Indigenous students
• Familiarity with local Indigenous communities
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License required
