Sr Category Lead to be responsible for developing a comprehensive steel profile to support the assessment of a potential steel category. - 7341 Our client is looking for Sr Category Lead to be responsible for developing a comprehensive steel profile to support the assessment of a potential steel category. - 7341
6.5 months contract to start, potential for renewal, HYBRID in Burnaby preferred, but open to REMOTE candidates
**Please note that for the successful candidate will be required to provide and use their own laptop for the duration of the contract.**
Must Have
Demonstrated expertise in the steel industry.
Experience with steel manufacturing and steel suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to engage and build relationships with stakeholders across multiple business functions and levels of an organization.
Advanced proficiency in developing clear, concise, and visually compelling presentations for leadership and executive audiences. Presentations, category profile brochure style
Strong understanding of steel pricing, market indices, and supplier dynamics.
Knowledge of steel supply chains and related market challenges.
Experience analyzing the impact of global tensions and geopolitical events on steel supply chains.
Experience supporting procurement, sourcing, or contract strategy initiatives related to steel.
Approximately 15-20 years of relevant industry experience.
Nice to Have:
Experience developing category, sourcing, or procurement strategies for steel or related commodities.
Experience conducting market analysis and assessing industry trends.
Familiarity with large-scale utility, infrastructure, construction, or industrial procurement environments.
Responsibilities:
Provide expertise on steel manufacturing, suppliers, pricing mechanisms, market indices, and supply chain dynamics to help the company better understand its steel-related spend and procurement opportunities.
The assignment will involve market research, supplier and industry analysis, validation of strategic recommendations, and development of executive-level presentations and supporting materials.
The engagement focused on determining whether steel should become a strategic category within the company's procurement portfolio.
Gathering and analyzing internal steel spend, demand, specifications, and usage data across the company.
Engaging with key stakeholders across all functions at the company, including Generation,



Transmission, Distribution, Capital Projects, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, and Finance, to understand current and future steel requirements.
Mapping the steel supply market, including key producers, distributors, fabricators, suppliers, and market dynamics.
Identifying sourcing opportunities, supply chain risks, and commercial considerations.
Assessing supplier capabilities, market competitiveness, and relationship opportunities.
Consolidating findings into a comprehensive steel profile, including spend, demand, supply market, risk, and opportunity assessments.
Developing recommendations on whether a dedicated steel category should be established, including potential category scope, strategy, and resource requirements.
This work will provide the foundational analysis needed to determine whether a dedicated steel category would deliver sufficient value and strategic benefit to the organization.
