About the Company Our client is a fast-growing North American freight brokerage providing transportation solutions across Canada and the U.S.
With a team of approximately 20 employees today and plans to more than double in size, the company is entering an important stage of growth and is looking for an experienced Talent Acquisition & People Manager to help lead this expansion and build the People infrastructure required for the company's next stage.
The company operates in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and sales-driven environment and needs someone who approaches recruitment with the same persistence, urgency and commercial mindset as a strong salesperson.
About the Role Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take ownership of how the company finds, attracts, hires, develops and retains talent .
Approximately 60–70% of the role will focus on recruitment , with a particular emphasis on proactively identifying and hiring high-performing, commission-driven sales professionals.
The remaining scope will include onboarding, retention, performance management, employee relations, HR processes and Ontario employment practices.
This is not a role for someone who has only operated within established corporate processes.
The company is looking for someone who has helped a growing organization scale, built or significantly improved recruitment and People processes, and can take ownership without needing a highly structured playbook.
You will be expected to remain hands-on while also providing the leadership and structure required to help the organization grow.
What You'll Own Talent Acquisition & Growth Build and maintain strong pipelines of freight brokers, account executives, carrier sales professionals, operations talent and other key hires.
Proactively headhunt and engage passive candidates , particularly commission-based and quota-carrying sales professionals.
Own the full recruitment lifecycle, from market mapping and sourcing through screening, interviews, offers and onboarding.
Identify and assess the personality, motivation, commercial drive and track record required to succeed in a performance-driven sales environment.
Develop scalable recruitment processes with clear interview stages, scorecards, assessments and timelines.
Build and strengthen the company's employer brand and talent pipeline.
Coordinate with external recruiters, agencies and sourcing partners when required.
Track recruitment metrics including pipeline activity, time-to-fill, offer acceptance and new-hire performance.
Continuously identify new sourcing channels and strategies as the organization expands.
People, Performance & Retention Build and improve onboarding and training processes that help new employees become productive quickly.
Develop employee retention, engagement and development initiatives.
Establish and manage performance review and coaching processes.
Help create clear career paths and opportunities for internal growth.
Support the development and administration of commission structures and performance incentives.
Partner directly with the CEO and leadership team on employee performance, organizational growth and People-related decisions.
Help develop the People function as the organization grows from approximately 20 employees to its next stage. HR Operations Manage day-to-day employee relations and HR matters.
Support payroll coordination, benefits administration and HR systems.
Develop and maintain HR policies, employee documentation and the employee handbook.
Manage performance and disciplinary processes when required.
Help ensure compliance with Ontario employment requirements and internal HR practices.
Identify gaps in existing People processes and proactively build solutions.
What We're Looking For 5+ years of progressive experience in Talent Acquisition, recruitment and/or HR , including significant hands-on recruiting responsibility.
Proven experience helping a growing organization scale , with direct involvement in building or significantly improving recruitment, Talent Acquisition or People/HR processes.
Demonstrated leadership experience within Talent Acquisition and/or People, including ownership of a function, team leadership, or responsibility for developing and managing recruitment and HR processes.
Proven success recruiting commission-based or quota-carrying sales professionals .
Strong full-cycle recruitment experience, including proactive sourcing, headhunting and passive candidate engagement .
Experience assessing sales talent beyond what's written on a resume.
Experience building scalable recruitment processes, pipelines, interview frameworks and hiring infrastructure.
Broader HR/People experience across areas such as onboarding, performance management, employee relations, retention and policy development.
Working knowledge of Ontario employment practices .
Robust communication and relationship-building skills.
Confidence working directly with senior leadership and providing guidance when needed.
Ability to work independently and take ownership in an entrepreneurial environment. A proactive, competitive and persistent approach to recruitment.
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Strongly Preferred Experience within freight brokerage, 3PL, transportation or logistics , particularly within a sales-driven organization.
Experience recruiting freight brokers, account executives, carrier sales representatives or similar revenue-generating professionals.
Experience building or scaling a Talent Acquisition or People function within a smaller, high-growth organization.
Experience designing or managing sales compensation and commission structures. CHRP, CHRL or another relevant HR designation.
Experience working with external, offshore or remote recruitment partners.
