Our public sector client is seeking a Senior Security Engineer (Reliability, 10+ years) to define and establish a Department-wide Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Program using crypto-agility, enterprise cryptography, and security engineering design This role supports a large-scale federal cyber security initiative focused on transitioning toward a crypto-agile and quantum-resistant security posture.
The consultant will define PQC technical capabilities, engineering designs, implementation roadmaps, and procurement requirements across enterprise applications, infrastructure, platforms, and services.
The engagement includes developing technical strategy and Large Project Charter engineering content to support executive decision-making and long-term program implementation.
The initial contract runs through March 31, , with an expected extension to continue the work.
Contract, Remote Must Haves 10+ years in IT Security Engineering and enterprise security architecture Enterprise cryptography , PKI , certificate management, and key management architecture Crypto-agility strategy, migration roadmap development, and target-state security capability design Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) program planning, technical strategy,
or implementation initiatives Reliability clearance Nice to Have Cryptographic asset discovery and inventory across enterprise environments Automated certificate lifecycle management including issuance, renewal, revocation, and discovery Centralized key management, KMS/HSM, and automated key rotation Development of technical requirements supporting RFPs and technical evaluations Cryptographic compromise response and emergency certificate or key replacement procedures Responsibilities Assess and document current-state quantum-related IT security risks across departmental environments Define PQC program scope, objectives, technical capabilities, dependencies, and implementation roadmap Develop the PQC Technical Strategy and Implementation Case Create engineering content for the Large Project Charter including governance, workstreams, milestones, and deliverables Produce crypto-agility capability definitions and security engineering designs Develop PQC technology procurement requirements to support future RFP activities Consolidate technical decisions, risks, dependencies, and implementation priorities into an integrated PQC program strategy
