Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA) Job Duties Job Duties Student/Alumni Advising and Engagement: Advise, coach, inform, and support students/alumni in developing job readiness skills, including job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, and interview preparation.

Monitor labour market trends to provide up-to-date data on job trends, salary expectations and high-demand skills.

Identify and address employment barriers and provide personalized solutions such as referrals to further training or community services.

Guide students/alumni in using targeted assessment tools and narrative techniques to identify their interests, values, aptitudes and abilities and translate that into personalized resume and cover letter developments.

Deliver culturally responsive and professionally aligned advising, both one-on-one and in group settings, across multiple formats (in-person, online, phone, and email).

Maintain current knowledge of international student work permits, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), and credential evaluation processes for converting international qualifications to Canadian equivalency.

Administer the use of Symplicity software, ensuring optimal integration of its features to support student and employer job search and recruitment success.

Administer and manage the Lib

Cal appointment system to ensure students/alumni have direct access to employment advising services.

Manage individual and Student Employment Services team email inboxes by monitoring and responding to communications, phone messages, and other channels, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to student/alumni inquiries.

Conduct one on one employment advising and cultivate ongoing relationships by following up with individual students/alumni to further identify their career needs and provide proactive support to accelerate their workforce readiness and success in obtaining employment.

Triage students to appropriate support services, academic units or external resources based on their individual needs.

Collaborations, Event and Presentation Planning, Coordination and Implementation: Plan, develop and coordinate all logistical aspects of both large and small-scale events, predominantly the annual provincial Career Fairs, Employer Information Sessions, mini Career Fairs, and more delivered in both in-person and virtual formats.





Strategic event coordination responsibilities include budget development and management, materials procurement, agency sourcing and contract negotiations, multi-channel sponsorship engagement, and invoicing, ensuring seamless execution and stakeholder satisfaction.

Design, develop, and deliver an annual schedule of culturally responsive, academically aligned, and student-centered employment workshops and outreach initiatives.

Programs are tailored to support our diverse Saskatchewan Polytechnic student populations and align with program-specific learning outcomes to enhance career readiness and engagement.

Collaborate with internal departments, including Career Counselling, Learning Services, Student Experience, the Library, Web Administration and Communication & Marketing, to design, develop, implement and maintain shared databases, tools and resources, such as: Lib

Cal online appointment booking system Lib

Guide online tools and resource content (Career and Employment Toolkit) Integrated webpages and digital platforms KNOW Conference Work with Instructional Designer and Information Technology Services annually to update the Road to Employment Resource design and content on Brightspace, ensuring accessibility for all Saskatchewan Polytechnic registered students.

Coordinate with Enrolment Services Student Information Systems Team members to extract new student registration data from Banner, format it in MS Excel, and collaborate with the Symplicity team to upload the data into the job search platform.

Support additional events and workshops within the Student Services portfolio as needed, as well as Saskatchewan Polytechnic wide.

Advanced public speaking skills in presentations, moderator, conference breakout sessions, guide tours, attend internal and external events and fairs, online/classroom power point presentation, engaging presentations to employers/external partners and students.

Travel around the province is required at certain times of the year.

Employer, Alumni and Community Engagement: Develop, advise, coach, inform, support, maintain and track relationships with employers,



alumni and community stakeholders – locally, nationally, and internationally – through phone, email, in-person meetings, regular correspondence, and social media.

Act as a liaison with employers and community organizations to coordinate and host recruitment events, deliver job readiness workshops, and advise on career development opportunities for students.

Collaborate with employers, Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to explore, develop and implement innovative approaches to employment and career-related learning opportunities to a diverse student population.

Monitor and respond to external communications via the SES email inbox, phone, and other channels to ensure timely and professional responses to employer and stakeholder inquiries.

Assessment and Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of Student Employment Services programs and services.

Use data from statistics, surveys and feedback to inform continuous improvement efforts and support the writing of comprehensive reports.

Provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance Student Employment Services programming by integrating best practices and emerging trends.

Conduct comparative research on similar institutions to identify new opportunities for Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

Validate Employer authenticity before approving account creation on the Symplicity data base.

Ensure all job postings meet institutional and provincial standards and are appropriate for Saskatchewan Polytechnic students and alumni.

Maintain and optimize the Symplicity job search platform to ensure seamless functionality for student, alumni, faculty and employers, enhancing job search and recruitment outcomes.

Stay informed about institutional priorities and program changes to align Student Employment Services offerings with evolving career pathways and academic offerings.

Pursue ongoing career development to strengthen Student Employment Service’s capacity to support student success.

Ensure all programming and services are inclusive and accessible.
