**GENERAL DESCRIPTION:**
The HR Generalist will provide pragmatic day-to-day support to the Great Lakes Division leaders and employees, on all Human Resource-related matters.
They will drive and implement HR initiatives across the Division to increase organizational effectiveness and positively impact business results.
There is a particular emphasis on training and development, coaching, employee relations and retention.
As a key member of the team, the HR Generalist supports our Servant Leadership culture while instilling our five key Operating Values: Safety, Integrity, Customer Service, To be a Excellent Place To Work and to be the Premier Waste Services Company in North America.
As a HR Generalist with us, the responsibilities include: Provide Human Resource generalist support throughout the Great Lakes Division
Partner with the Division leaders and managers to provide strategic and organizational development solutions to Human Resource matters
Become a trusted business partner with a demonstrated ability to build solid relationships and credibility with the division
Help facilitate a variety of HR training sessions
Provide regular coaching and counselling to managers and employees
Provide interpretation of company policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements to employees and managers
Provide support during the collective bargaining process
Assist in conducting investigations into complaints and grievances
Assist in all matters of the full cycle of the employment term
Manage employee documentation via our HRIS
Support and implement Regional HR programs and initiatives
Performs other duties as required
**WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:**
University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources, Business or a related field is required
3-5 years' experience in Human Resources, some experience with unionized environments would be an asset
Strong collaboration, interpersonal and influencing skills
Strong business acumen and a continuous improvement mindset
Availability when required outside of standard business hours such as attending early morning operations and safety meetings
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
Proven organization, prioritization and planning skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS systems and LMS (learning management systems)
Proficiency in Workday would be an asset
Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle to travel to various locations within Southwestern Ontario
Ability to travel up to 35% of the time
Completion of all pre-employment requirements, to the satisfaction of the company
