Energy Crane Service is looking for a full-time Estimator to join our team in Stony Plain, Alberta.
This position will support our crane and rigging operations by preparing estimates and proposals for work ranging from daily crane rentals and shutdowns to larger industrial and construction projects.
We are fairly open on background and experience. Previous estimating experience is an asset, but we are also interested in candidates with robust experience in crane operations, rigging, construction supervision, coordination, project management, or industrial construction who have the ability to understand a scope of work and develop accurate pricing.
Responsibilities
Review RFQs, tender packages, drawings, specifications, schedules, and client scope documents
Prepare estimates for crane, rigging, labour, transportation, mobilization, travel, subsistence, and related project requirements
Determine appropriate crane sizes and equipment based on project information and lift requirements
Work closely with Operations and Sales to develop project execution strategies and pricing
Prepare customer quotations and formal proposals
Complete cost breakdowns for labour, equipment, subcontractors, travel, and other project costs
Identify project assumptions, exclusions, qualifications, and potential cost or schedule risks
Request and review subcontractor and supplier pricing where required
Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required
Respond to customer questions and revise estimates as project requirements change
Maintain organized estimating files and project information
Assist with the handover of awarded work from estimating to operations
Support pricing for change orders and additional work during project execution
Qualifications & Experience
Experience in estimating, crane and rigging, industrial construction, supervision, coordination, project management, or a related field
Strong understanding of construction and project execution
Crane and rigging knowledge is considered a strong asset
Ability to read drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documents
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
Good written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently while working closely with Operations and Sales
Previous experience as a crane operator, supervisor, coordinator, project manager, or construction professional will be considered.
