**Position Description**
**Clinical Research Project Coordinator (part-time)**
HOPE-Can: Hyperoxaluria Outcome and Patient Evaluation Canada
Division of Nephrology, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto
**Position summary**
HOPE-Can is the Canadian national patient registry for primary hyperoxaluria, hosted at Sick
Kids and funded by the Canadian Drug Agency.
It collects longitudinal clinical, biochemical and outcome data using a data dictionary harmonised with the OXALEurope and Mayo Clinic registries.
We seek a part time Clinical Research Coordinator to take day-to-day responsibility for the registry, including ethics submissions, patient recruitment, data collection and quality control, and liaison with participating centres across the country.
**Key responsibilities**
· Prepare,
submit and maintain Research Ethics Board (REB) protocols, amendments, renewals and related regulatory documentation, and support REB submissions at participating sites.
· Identify, approach and consent eligible patients and families, in collaboration with the clinical team at Sick
Kids and with collaborating centres.
· Collect and enter clinical, laboratory and outcome data into the registry database (REDCap), including retrospective chart abstraction.
· Perform ongoing quality control: source data verification, query resolution, consistency checks and documentation of data cleaning.
· Maintain registry documentation: data dictionary, standard operating procedures, consent logs and enrolment tracking.
· Act as the main point of contact for participating centres and support reporting to the funder and the steering committee.
· Contribute to abstracts, manuscripts and presentations arising from registry data.
· Setting up meeting agendas and organizing steering committee meetings, as well as assist with stakeholder engagement.
**Qualifications**
**Required**
· Undergraduate degree in health sciences, life sciences or a related discipline.
· Demonstrated experience preparing and managing REB (or IRB) submissions.
· Direct experience working with patients and families in a clinical or research setting, including obtaining informed consent.
· Experience with electronic data capture systems (REDCap preferred) and with clinical data entry and quality control.
· Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
· A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
**Preferred**
· Working knowledge of clinical medicine, laboratory data or nephrology.
Formal medical training is an asset but is not required.
· Prior experience with patient registries, rare disease research or multi-centre studies.
· Working knowledge of French, given the national scope of the registry.
**Employment Type & Terms:**
· Part-time temporary 1 year contract, approximately one to two days per week (0.2 to 0.4 FTE).
· Highly flexible schedule with substantial scope for remote work, subject to occasional on-site presence at Sick
Kids for patient-facing activities and chart access.
· Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
· Start date flexible; the position is available immediately.
