Part-time Temporary Appointment until April 02, 2027 (20 hours per week )
Responsibilities Vacancy Status : Existing position
Reporting to the Manager of Laurentian Online, theOnline Course Technician will workdirectly with the Instructional Designers, Online Course Coordinators, and course instructors to develop, revise and deliver asynchronous online for-credit courses (both English and French) that are learner-centered and interactive for Laurentian Online.
Participate in the planning, coordination, development and delivery of recent and existing asynchronous Laurentian Online courses;
Convert course content into HTML code and upload to learning management system using an appropriate page layout which incorporates a user interface that promotes and facilitates online learning and conforms to AODA standards;
Customize web-ready graphics according to instructional needs and course specifications; image specifications and optimization according to technical limitations, with a focus on minimizing the hardware requirements for students;
Operate a variety of software programs (such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, H5P, etc) and course management tools such as D2L,
Respond to email inquiries in the eSupport email box to resolve technical issues in courses as they arise.
Provide advice and guidance to course authors and course instructors regarding instructional and online course design,



online learning methodologies and approaches and the integration of appropriate learning technologies;
Provide guidance, when required, in the course development model or web development tools to course supervisors, faculty, students and CCL staff;
Provide appropriate D2L training to faculty, staff and students as requested.
Qualifications University degree or college diploma in Web Development, Interactive Media Design, Computer Science, or a related field;
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a related field;
Knowledge of Learning Management Software, educational technologies, computer programs, instructional materials and technologies;
Knowledge of D2L Brightspace is an asset;
Expert knowledge of HTML coding, Dreamweaver, Java Script, and Photoshop or other graphics software
Attention to detail, proofreading, and quality assurance skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills and an openness to new approaches;
Excellent written and oral skills in French and English.
Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
