Enhance vessel operations and safety as a Deckhand BridgeWatch with BC Ferries in Alert Bay. In this role, you'll direct traffic, perform safety checks, and maintain the vessel's cleanliness and functionality.

As a customer-oriented team member, you'll report directly to the Chief Officer or Mate. Your responsibilities will include managing vehicle and foot traffic, conducting safety communications, and ensuring compliance with regulations. You will also perform general maintenance and support emergency drills on board.

Key Responsibilities:
• Direct vehicle and passenger traffic on and off the vessel
• Communicate with officers and ticketing staff as needed
• Monitor and check propane tanks for safety




• Secure car decks and passenger gates before departure
• Maintain cleanliness of the vessel's interior and exterior

Requirements:
• Hold a Bridge Watch Rating CoC or higher
• Completed Marine Emergency Duties training (STCW)
• Valid Seafarers’ Medical Certificate required
• Ability to handle heavy objects and climb ladders
• Knowledge of secure work practices and seamanship
