Scope
The Museum of Surrey is a cultural facility with a mission to ignite imaginations and connect Surrey’s diverse population and communities through participation, engagement, and stories. This is an auxiliary position with shifts on weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for textiles and public engagement. The successful candidate will enjoy interacting with visitors of all ages, particularly children and seniors, and will thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt to a variety of programs and activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage with visitors of all ages.
- Assist in planning, coordinating,
and leading introductory textile and fibre arts classes for all ages.
- Leads engaging hand-on textile demonstrations, such as weaving and spinning.
- Research and prepare crafts, materials, and program samples.
- Assist with volunteer supervision and support.
- Support textile staff with the maintenance of, and program delivery for, the Textile Dye Garden.
- Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. You will have:
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by one (1) year of relevant experience in community service work, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.
- Emergency First Aid with CPR-C & AED certificate.
- Experience in textile and fibre arts, such as knitting, crocheting, sewing and weaving.
OTHER INFORMATION
Pay Grade: Schedule D
Hourly Rate: $25.54
