The Role: Equipment Operator

Division: Park Commercial Landscapes

While we provide the environment, we need you to provide the expertise. As part of Park Commercial Landscapes, you will be a primary architect of precision and mobilization, operating heavy machinery to shape commercial site development and ensuring our fleet is safely transported and maintained for year-round success. From grading and site prep to winter snow clearing, your skill behind the controls brings our projects to life with speed, efficiency, and uncompromised safety.

One Group, Diverse Opportunities

While this position is anchored within Park Commercial Landscapes, you are joining the broader Park Landscape Group network. Across Western Canada, our team operates four specialized brands (Park Commercial Landscapes,

Jenron Creative Landscapes by Park, Altus Pools by Park, and Park Supplies). That means you gain exposure to diverse scopes—from civil sitework and commercial grounds to custom pool excavation and residential design-build—giving you cross-training opportunities, variety, and year-round career stability across our Alberta operations.

Your Daily Impact

- Precision Machine Operation: Operate excavators and skid steers for grading, trenching, and site preparation, meeting exact elevation tolerances for commercial hardscape, site development, and pool projects.

- Safe Mobilization: Transport heavy machinery using company trucks and trailers, ensuring proper load securement and full compliance with provincial transportation regulations.

- Equipment Stewardship: Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance (greasing, fluid checks) to keep specialized machinery clean, secure, and reliable.

- Safety Leadership: Live our core value of Working Safe & Working Smart by adhering to Alberta OHS regulations, participating in daily hazard assessments, and leading toolbox discussions to maintain a hazard-free site.

- All-Season Versatility: Transition to a key operational or coordinating role during winter months (November through April), overseeing commercial snow and ice management for high-value properties during peak snow events.

The Essentials for Growth (KSAs)

To truly thrive in this role, you’ll need a solid foundation of skills and the right mindset:

- Knowledge: Strong understanding of provincial transportation requirements for hauling equipment and Alberta OHS regulations for heavy machinery.

- Skills: Expert proficiency operating commercial excavators and skid steers; ability to read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and engineering drawings.

- Abilities:

Minimum of two (2) years of heavy equipment operation experience; valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract; physical stamina to climb in/out of machinery and lift up to 50 lbs in changing seasonal weather.

Compensation & Total Rewards

Your total rewards package is designed to support your financial well-being and daily success:

- Competitive Hourly Wage: Based on experience.

- Predictable Paychecks: Through our Alberta Individual Overtime Agreement, we bank your busy-season extra hours to top up your pay during rain delays or seasonal shifts.

- Health & Dental Benefits: Access to our comprehensive group benefits plan.

- RRSP Matching Program: A company-matched contribution plan to support your long-term financial goals.

- Performance Incentives: Eligibility for discretionary performance-based bonus programs.

- Tools for Success: Modern equipment, high-quality safety gear, leading-edge technology, and continuous training.
