Freelance Video Editor & Social Media Assistant

Ottawa, ON | $25/hour | 5–8 hours/week | Independent Contractor

I’m an independent female content creator and small-business owner in Ottawa seeking a creative, reliable freelance Video Editor & Social Media Assistant.

This is a small, one-on-one working environment. You’ll work directly with me to edit video content, create short-form social media material, organize digital content, and help manage and grow my social media presence.

This position would be particularly well suited to a college/university student, recent graduate, or emerging freelancer interested in video production, digital media, communications, marketing or social media.

Responsibilities

- Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels and other social platforms
- Edit longer-form video content
- Create platform-appropriate versions of existing footage
- Add text, captions, transitions, music and other editing elements
- Create covers/thumbnails and prepare content for posting
- Help organize a growing photo and video library
- Assist with scheduling and posting social content
- Contribute creative ideas for improving content and growing social-media engagement

Adult Content Disclosure – Please Read Before Applying

This position involves editing consensually produced adult content that may contain nudity and sexually explicit material.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and comfortable viewing and editing this material in a professional context.

The contractor does not participate in the adult content. The position is strictly video editing, content creation and social-media support.

Confidentiality and discretion are essential.



A confidentiality agreement will be required because the contractor will have access to unreleased content involving identifiable individuals.

Qualifications

You don't need extensive professional experience. Creativity, reliability and a good eye for engaging video are more important to me than formal credentials.

The ideal candidate will:

- Have experience editing video using Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, VN, Clipchamp or similar software
- Understand Instagram Reels and short-form social content
- Be comfortable working independently
- Be organized and dependable
- Have valuable judgment about what is appropriate for different social-media platforms
- Be comfortable working professionally with adult material
- Enjoy contributing ideas and experimenting with different approaches to content

Work Arrangement

Compensation: $25/hour
Hours: Approximately 5–8 hours per week initially
Schedule: Flexible
Location: Primarily remote, with occasional in-person collaboration in Ottawa
Employment type: Freelance / Independent Contractor

Because occasional in-person collaboration is anticipated, preference will be given to applicants located in Ottawa or the surrounding area.
