Position # : 9012465 Expected Start Date: November 23, 2026 Union: SUN Facility: Urgent Care Centre Saskatoon City/Town: Saskatoon Department: Urgent Care Type: Full-time regular FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days, Evenings, Weekends Number of Hours per Rotation: 28 shifts of 8 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Standard Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse C $45.830 to $56.140 Travel Required: Yes Job Description: The Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) provides specialized nursing services to patients who may have developed or have a disorder in the genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and/or integumentary systems.
They provide specialized holistic assessment and management as an inter-professional team member and participate in professional development, research activities, knowledge translation, and system-level thinking. They provide counselling and education for patients, both independently and in collaboration with the health care team.
In consultation with physicians, community counterparts and other health care professionals, they use best practice and guidelines developed by Canadian Association of Enterostomal Therapist and World Ostomy Association to ensure patients are accessing appropriate care to achieve the desired outcomes.
The NSWOC integrates skills and knowledge from nursing theory and principles of adult learning in the provision of direct client care, clinical consultation, clinical coordination, clinical problems solving skills, education and research. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience Five (5) full time years of experience as a Registered Nurse Education Canadian Nurses Association(CNA)Certification in Wound,Ostomy&Continence; WOCC(C) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Other Education and Training Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS) Graduate of Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Management programs Knowledge and Abilities Ability to teach patients/families about areas essential to health & well-being Committed to delivering on patient and family centred care Has knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations Ability to lead/encourage/advise/collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals Knowledge of trauma informed practice Ability to evaluate data to problem-solve and lead to quality improvement Ability to coach, mentor and develop others Knowledge in First Nation and Metis history in Saskatchewan Knowledge in communication strategy, methods and tools Sensitive and understanding of diverse cultural aspects of population served Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development Knowledge in conflict resolution techniques Has demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to initiate and exercise critical thinking and decision-making ability and willingness to travel within service delivery area Ability to adapt to ever changing environments Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate processes and activities Integrates evidence based best practice as standard performance in portfolio Demonstrates ability to work as a team member Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Other Information Experience in developing wound, ostomy, continence programs/tools is an asset Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) Valid Class 5 driver's license Practices within Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation is an asset.
