Nurse blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and reliable chronic conditions patients.
Position practices within a framework of evidence-based primary care, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. Practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities. This includes community needs assessments; supporting inter-professional collaboration and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects.
provides clinical assessment and treatment strategies that reflect in-depth knowledge of the care populations. Human Resources Exemption: No Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Graduate from an approved School of Nursing Competencies Counseling skills Assessment skills Facilitation skills Teaching skills Experience 3 years experience as an RN in primary care,
public health or acute care One year experience in community needs assessment/development/health promotion Knowledge & Abilities Recognizes the need for holistic care for individuals, families, and groups Demonstrate responsible decision-making supported by strong critical thinking Demonstrates capacity to work closely with multiple physicians Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change.
Demonstrates knowledge of community services, programs, and resources Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments. Demonstrates ability to assess the community for primary care needs. Ability to apply methods and principles of nursing process Knowledge of aboriginal health issues, culture and traditions Demonstrates capacity to plan, implement and evaluate multiple assessments Demonstrates leadership, confidence and autonomy in the RN(NP) role Demonstrates ability to show initiative and self-direction Demonstrates ability in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care Ability to apply health promotion principles Knowledge in population and public health concepts Other Education & Training Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program required Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Other Information Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) Must possess a valid driver's license and have a vehicle available for work.
