On-site - Toronto, ON Full-time Posted February 15, 2026 $115,000 - $155,000 CAD About the Role
We're seeking an Industrial Automation Engineer to work on software systems for our manufacturing, energy, and construction clients. This is a role at the intersection of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) - where industrial control systems meet up-to-date software stacks. A typical project involves integrating PLCs and SCADA systems with cloud-based analytics platforms, building IIoT data pipelines that ingest millions of sensor readings per day, and creating real-time monitoring dashboards that plant operators actually use. You'll work on systems where downtime is measured in dollars per minute and reliability is non-negotiable. This is an on-site role based at our Toronto office with regular work at client facilities - from factory floors in southern Ontario to construction sites across Canada to energy installations in Alberta. You should be comfortable in industrial environments (hard hat, steel toes, safety briefings) and able to discuss technical problems with both software engineers and grizzled plant electricians who've been keeping the line running for 30 years. What You'll Do
Design and implement integrations between PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) and modern software stacks Build IIoT data ingestion pipelines using MQTT, OPC-UA, Modbus, and proprietary industrial protocols Develop and modernize SCADA systems using Ignition, WinCC, or custom web-based HMIs Architect real-time monitoring dashboards for plant managers, operators, and executives Implement edge computing solutions on industrial PCs and ruggedized hardware Build alerting and incident detection systems for predictive maintenance use cases Conduct on-site installations, commissioning,
and troubleshooting at client facilities Collaborate with client operations teams during cutover and ramp-up periods Author detailed operational documentation, P&ID; diagrams, and control system specifications Partner with our cloud and CV teams on hybrid edge/cloud architectures What We're Looking For
3+ years in industrial automation, IIoT engineering, or controls engineering Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Mitsubishi) Deep working knowledge of industrial protocols - Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET Strong proficiency in Python or C++ for automation scripting and data pipeline work Experience with at least one SCADA platform (Ignition, WinCC, FactoryTalk, Aveva) Solid understanding of real-time data acquisition, time-series storage, and historian systems Comfortable on factory floors, construction sites, or industrial facilities with appropriate PPE Strong written communication for runbooks and operational handover documentation Bonus Points
Electrical engineering background or formal controls engineering education Functional safety certifications (IEC 61508, ISO 13849) or experience in safety-rated control systems Experience with digital twin platforms (Ignition Perspective, Aveva Plant Simulation) Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443, NIST 800-82) What We Offer
Competitive salary in the $115,000 - $155,000 CAD range On-site at our Toronto office (Yonge & Lawrence) with a collaborative, in-person team culture Top-tier hardware: MacBook Pro M-series, ergonomic chair & desk setup Extended parental leave - 12 weeks fully paid for any caregiver + return-to-work transition support Flexible hours - work when you're most productive, no mandatory meeting blocks Company-paid PPE - safety boots, hard hat, hi-vis, hearing protection - kept up to date
