Schedule
Monday and Tuesday: 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Wednesday to Friday: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Total: 24 hours per week
Pay rate: $27.53/hour

*Some benefits have eligibility requirements of surpassing three (3) months and securing a regular position of 20hrs/week or more. The benefits and criteria may change from time to time at the discretion of Strive.
The primary focus of this role is supporting clients in the community . The successful candidate willbe responsible forsafely transporting andaccompanyingclients to community activities, personal shopping, appointments, errands, and other activities that promote independence, choice, and community inclusion.
A valid Class 4 Driver’s License is a mandatory requirement for this position.
When community outings and appointments are not scheduled, the Care Aide will support the care team withpersonal care, transfers, daily routines, and otherdirect-careneeds. The successful candidate may alsobe requiredto providefloor coverage and direct-care support when needed, including covering staff sick calls.
The right candidate should have experience withbehaviourmanagement, personal care, community integration, and supporting individuals with developmental and physical disabilities, mental health needs, and complexbehaviours. A Medication Administration Certificate is alsorequired.
Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:
Provide transportation and community support for clients, including:
Accompanying clients to medical, dental, and other appointments
Supporting clients with personal shopping and errands
Taking clients into the community for activities, recreation, and social opportunities
Supporting community integration and participation
Encouraging independence, choice, and life skills while in the community
Safelyoperateorganizational vehicles while transporting clients.
Assistclients with planning andparticipatingin meaningful community activities and routines.
Support clients with personal shopping and decision-making while promoting independence rather than dependence.
Provide personal care andassistancewith activities of daily living asrequired.
Assistwith transfers, mobility, positioning, and otherphysical-careneeds.
Work alongside LPNs and other care staff to follow individual health care plans.
Providedirect-carecoverage on the floor when required,
including coverage for sick calls and unexpected staffing needs.
Implement individualized schedules, protocols, activities, and routines.
Completeaccuratedaily documentation and reporting.
Support clients with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, andbehaviors.
Use appropriatebehavior-management strategies and follow establishedbehaviorsupport plans.
Support clients in developing andmaintainingindependence and life skills.
Assistwith community integration and meaningful participation in daily activities.
Follow all organizational policies, procedures, health care plans, and safety requirements.
Job Qualifications Include:
Valid BC Care Aide Registry Number
Valid Class 4 Driver’sLicense– mandatory
Protected driving record and ability to safely transport clients.
Medication Administration Certificate from a reputable/recognized school.
Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and/orbehaviors.
Experience providing personal care andassistingwith transfers.
Experience supporting individuals in the community and promoting independence.
Criminal Record Check.
Negative TB test.
Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
Solid communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Flexibility to provide direct-care coverage whenrequired.
