The Ministry of Primary and Preventive Health Services (PPHS) is building a more resilient and sustainable health care system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
The Director, Executive Operations role under the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Primary and Preventative Health Services, provides the opportunity to expand and enhance your background and experience in leadership and be able to identify strategic issues impacting the Ministry.
Your ability to deal in a multifaceted, fast-paced setting, identifying key issues, including legal implications, risks and mitigation strategies are critical skills required in fulfilling the requirements of this position.
The position performs essential role in assisting the COO, and is a key liaison to the ministry staff, the Deputy Minister's Office (DMO) and the Deputy Minister's Executive Director of Executive Operations, Executive Council and other ministry OCOOs.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the development and implementation of Ministry mandate, initiatives, and projects and the continual enhancement of Ministry operations Support the Chief Operating Officer in achieving the mandate,
goals and operations of the Ministry Establish and oversee strategies and processes that enable effective issues management Oversee the effective operation of the Chief Operating Officer's Office

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Health Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a Health Sciences,
plus a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis.
Required:
Experience advising senior leadership on operational issues, risks and priorities. Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies or procedural frameworks. Experience leading and managing teams in a complex operational environment.
Assets:
Experience working within Alberta’s health system, particularly in health system transformation, strategy and policy development, and executive coordination. Experience leading large-scale health-system transformation initiatives involving multiple organizations, stakeholders and governance structures. Experience developing health system strategies, policy frameworks, implementation plans or system-level improvement initiatives. Experience using data, evidence, and health information to support strategic planning, policy development and executive decision-making.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
This is a permanent position located in downtown Edmonton.
