Sony Pictures Imageworks, a leading visual effects studio, is seeking an Animation Assistant Technical Director to support high-end animation pipeline development and optimization. The role focuses on improving animation workflow efficiency, prototyping tools and utilities, and providing technical support to the animation team across productions.

What You'll Do

Optimize animation workflows by leveraging automation and defining best practices

Develop and maintain scripts, tools and utilities for the animation team using the Imageworks proprietary pipeline

Identify workflow inefficiencies and collaborate with artists and pipeline teams to build solutions

Provide technical support to artists across the production pipeline and assist with troubleshooting

Communicate progress and challenges to Supervising Animators, Pipeline Supervisor, and animation development team

What You Need





Solid knowledge of Maya

Programming experience in Python

Bash/cshell/Linux knowledge

Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills

Strong interest in animation, visual development, film, and computer graphics

Nice to Have

Unreal Engine and Houdini experience

C++ programming experience

Experience with code-sharing and revision control systems

Docker or other software distribution systems experience

3D or 2D artist background or undergraduate/graduate degree in Computing Science

Base salary CAD $25.96–$34.62/hr. Benefits include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSPs, sick leave, vacation leave, and standard increases as applicable.
