As an Automation, Controls & Electronics Technologist, you'll support and improve a diverse range of control systems across a network of manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and Canada.

You'll work with PLCs, industrial networks, instrumentation, electrical and electronic control systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and manufacturing technologies that are critical to safe and reliable operations. This role offers exposure to complex industrial environments, advanced automation technologies, and opportunities to influence the future of manufacturing performance and reliability.

You'll play a key role in improving safe, reliable, and productive manufacturing operations while helping modernize industrial technology across the business.

What you will be doing

Support and maintain industrial control, automation, instrumentation, and electronic systems across multiple manufacturing facilities.

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, instrumentation, networking, and control system issues.

Support PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and related automation platforms.

Configure, maintain, and optimize field devices including sensors, transmitters, analyzers, actuators, and control panels.





Support industrial communication networks and connected manufacturing technologies.

Develop and maintain control philosophies, loop drawings, control narratives, system documentation, and automation configurations.

Support historian systems, data integrity, backups, and digitalization initiatives.

Participate in root cause investigations and reliability improvement activities.

Provide technical support to production, maintenance, engineering, projects, and operational teams.

Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) activities involving automation, instrumentation, and control systems.

Collaborate with site and project teams to identify automation, reliability, and operational improvement opportunities.

Support functional safety and process control programs as required.

Partner with global technical experts to share best practices and advance automation capabilities across the business.

What We're Looking For
Required

3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation, controls, instrumentation, industrial electronics, electrical systems, or related manufacturing technologies.

Experience with one or more of the following:

PLC systems

HMI/SCADA platforms

DCS platforms

Industrial instrumentation

Electronic control systems

Industrial networking technologies

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing, industrial, or process environment.

Ability to communicate effectively with technical and operational stakeholders.

Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent technical qualification in:

Electrical Engineering Technology

Electronics Engineering Technology

Mechatronics

Automation Engineering Technology

Electrical Engineering

Electronics Engineering

Instrumentation & Control Engineering

Comparable technical disciplines.

Preferred

Experience as an:

Electronics Technologist

Electrical Technologist

Automation Technologist

Instrumentation Technologist

Controls Technician

Controls Engineer

Mechatronics Specialist

Experience with platforms such as:

Rockwell / Allen-Bradley

Siemens

Emerson

Honeywell

Yokogawa

Schneider Electric





Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, or similar technologies.

Experience with VFDs, motor controls, sensors, analyzers, and industrial electronics.

Experience supporting manufacturing, chemical, mining, energy, industrial process, or heavy industrial operations.

Knowledge of functional safety, SIS lifecycle management, SIL verification, and process control systems.

Understanding of engineering standards and Management of Change processes.

Role Dimensions

Individual contributor with no direct reports

Must be open to reporting to the Calgary office at least three days a week

Ability to travel up to 50% throughout the US and Canada

Compensation Range

$94,650 - $132,510 CAD per year

Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan

(Salary to be determined by the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
