Job summary
The Warehouse Associate has a key role in ensuring that products are received, verified, stored, and transported to the sales floor or in the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves constant handling of merchandise that varies in weight from light to heavy throughout the shift.

Responsibilities:
Driving and Delivery

Safely drive a 5-ton truck to transport merchandise between the store and offsite warehouse in Winnipeg.

Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and record any defects.

Maintain the vehicle in valuable working order, keeping it clean and fueled, and report any mechanical issues to the Service Manager right away.

Plan efficient routes and adjust for weather, road conditions and delivery priorities.

Follow all traffic laws, hours-of-service rules, and weight and load regulations.

Load and unload the truck safely, distributing weight evenly and securing every load with straps,



load bars and padding.

Ensure all items remain intact during transport and delivery.

Verify merchandise against shipping documents at pickup and delivery, noting any shortages, overages or damage.

Report any accidents, incidents or near misses to management immediately.

Warehouse

Receive, scan, verify and store all incoming products.

Store overstock in the correct locations.

Ship returns, process damaged claims and complete related paperwork.

Ensure inventory accuracy through proper scanning and regular counts.

Dispose of garbage and cardboard.

Health and Safety

Operate all warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts, pallet jacks and ladders.

Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, wearing required personal protective equipment.

Requirements / Skills
Driving

Valid Manitoba driver’s licence of the class required for the vehicle, with an acceptable driver’s abstract.

Minimum 1 year of experience driving a cube van or straight truck of similar size.

Ability to safely operate a 5-ton truck, including loading, backing up and navigating city streets and highways throughout Manitoba.

Comfortable driving in Manitoba winter conditions.

Willingness to complete daily vehicle inspections and follow hours-of-service and National Safety Code requirements.





Physical Demands

Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, using a ladder, twisting, turning and reaching.

Ability to repeatedly lift up to [50] lbs and to load and unload the truck, with help for heavier items.

Availability

Ability to work shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Flexibility for early starts or longer days depending on delivery schedules.

Skills and Experience

Minimum 1 year of experience in a delivery and/or customer service role.

Strong computer skills, including scanning and inventory systems.

Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt to challenging situations and make decisions independently while on the road.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multitask.

Forklift and/or Skyjack (scissor lift) certification (asset).

Strong time management and reliability, since the driver works with minimal supervision.
