Under minimum supervision, performs the duties listed below with complete competence.
TYPICAL DUTIES Read and interpret engineering drawings, blue prints, charts, and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations
Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and layout work pieces
Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled CNC tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations
Fit and assemble machined metal/composite parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools
Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
Set up and program CNC machine with MasterCam
Handling of large components according to secure practices, overhead crane and/or forklift
Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols
Perform routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot any issues that arise during production

ISO Standards as they apply to Design and Manufacturing
Hoisting & Rigging, WHMIS and other shop safety programs
First Aid
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 5 years relevant experience in the field or in a related area
EDUCATION REQUIRED College Machining course and 4-year apprenticeship program
Red Seal
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ASSOCIATED HAZARDS Working in a shop, PPE required
Lifting and transporting heavy equipment
